Patrick Kirchner
Voice Actor – Storyteller – 31-Year Marine

Patrick Kirchner
Woodbridge, Virginia

From Detroit to TOPGUN
Patrick Kirchner grew up on the West Side of Detroit — where the nuns at school decided early on that he was the one who should be in front of the microphone. From second grade, he was the Master of Ceremonies for concerts, talent shows, and school events. The instinct to tell a story, to command a room with a voice, was there from the start.
After graduating from University of Detroit Jesuit High School in 1985, Patrick enrolled at Wayne State University. While there, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and headed to boot camp in 1986. He served as a jet engine mechanic on the AV-8B Harrier II — and in 1990, was selected for a commissioning program (MECEP) and sent to the University of Michigan. He graduated in 1993, was commissioned a Second Lieutenant, and went on to serve as an Air Defense Control Officer.
The highlights accumulate from there. A staff instructor tour at the Navy Fighter Weapons School — better known as TOPGUN. A combat tour in Iraq. Command and operational tours across the U.S. and abroad. And eventually, the top levels of the Pentagon, where Patrick served as the Marine Corps Military Assistant to the Director of Net Assessment before directing strategic foresight efforts for the Corps. Along the way, he earned an MA from Marine Corps University in Quantico (2006) and Certificates in Foresight from the University of Houston (2014-15).
The Voice Behind Every Ceremony
Throughout those 31 years, Patrick was never far from a microphone. Promotions, retirements, change of command ceremonies, Marine Corps Birthday Balls — whenever someone needed a voice to give the moment its weight, it was Patrick. Not because it was assigned. Because it fit.
After 31 Years
Patrick retired in 2017. His wife — who had watched him captivate rooms for decades — encouraged him to pursue what had always been a passion. He’s since trained with some of the best coaches in the industry, built a broadcast-quality studio, and earned recognition across the voiceover world.
Military accolades aside, he’s a 2025 Reed Award winner, a two-time 2024 Telly Award winner, the commercial voice of the Nashville Predators, and the voice of pilot training for Delta Air Lines. For both his character and his selfless service to the Voiceover Community is peers have continued to honor him with the One Voice USA Inspiration Award (2020), the MAVO Muse Award (2023), and the Unicorn Award (finalist) (2025).
Sound Attention
At the start of a Marine Corps personnel formation, the Adjutant commands “Sound Attention.” The band plays the musical call to attention, signaling the ceremony is about to begin — a command that demands presence, precision, and respect from everyone on the field.
Having narrated scores of those ceremonies over the years, Patrick knew the weight of that moment better than most. When it came time to name the company, his wife suggested it. They both knew immediately it was right.
Sound Attention — the call that means something important is about to happen, and the voice that carries it.
The Voice
Patrick’s warm, resonant bass-baritone has been described as “savvy storytelling with a side of wisdom.” Confident without being cold, authoritative without being distant, and natural enough to feel like a real conversation. It can anchor a national campaign, calm a nervous room, guide a learner through dense material, or fill an arena. Whatever the moment requires, the voice finds it.
Away from the Booth
When Patrick isn’t recording, he’s usually working on his 1967 Mustang, wrenching on his Harley, roasting his own coffee, or cheering on the Washington Capitals and the Michigan Wolverines.
